Tasting Note

From the ridiculous to the sublime!  After a tough ‘17 vintage when the sun never shone, to the ‘18 where it was hot, hot, hot!  This warmer season did bring a smattering of rain, but all in all the flavours were bang on.  The 2018 Invivo Sauvignon Blanc is really tropical - just how we like it - with punchy, jump-out-of-the-glass classic passionfruit, grapefruit and lime aromas.  But what we really love about this vintage is that it’s got real yum appeal.  In the winery, we describe the feeling in the mouth as ‘full’ and that means that when you first taste it, the Savvy flavours and texture just invade your palate and don’t let up. Drinkability factor 10/10.

93 Points & 5 stars, Wine Orbit: “It is intensely aromatic on the nose showing passionfruit, feijoa, lime zest and sweet basil aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is lively and pristine. The wine is up front and immediately appealing with loads of tasty flavours, brilliantly supported by vibrant acidity and fine texture. A real crowd-pleaser. At its best: now to 2021.”

4 stars, Raymond Chan: "Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the edge.  The nose is full with packed aromas  of pungent passionfruit and tropical fruit with fresh herbs and nuances of minerals.  This has good depth and presence and unfolds in volume.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has bright and vibrant flavours of pungent passionfruit with tropical fruits, and fresh herbs forming a softly packed heart.  The wine has a firm line and carries with good drive and energy, with balanced, background acidity, leading to a lingering finish of passionfruit and herbs.  This is a fresh, pungent passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a firm core and line, with good drive.  Match with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years.
